Why You Must Avoid the Gospel Dream Scam
We went to Gospel Dream so you don't have to: Reviews of the Parisian show Gospel Dream reveals recurring structural issues rather than isolated incidents.
The main concerns :
- The mismatch between the venues and acoustic requirements, which particularly penalizes elderly and hard-of-hearing audiences
- A questionable price-quality ratio, with tickets costing €25–33 for a performance lasting between 1 and 1.5 hours
- Artistic performances that are considered uneven, ranging from enthusiastic to disappointing depending on the audience member
- Illegal and polluting marketing practices
Amateurism in organization and performance
1. Acoustic and sound system problems
1.1 Inadequate venues
The most frequent negative feedback concerns poor acoustics depending on the performance venue. Several audience members complain that the churches chosen do not showcase the voices.
At the Église de la Madeleine, one audience member said:
Very disappointed with this gospel group's performance. We didn't think the venue showcased the voices. On the contrary, they seemed lost in this huge church.
The annex chapel of Saint-Germain-des-Prés has poor acoustics
which detracts from the overall experience.
1.2 Sound issues
The absence or inadequacy of microphones is a major handicap.
One review mentions:
We couldn't hear the instruments well enough, especially the saxophone; each musician should have had a microphone.
At Saint-Roch Church, audience members seated beyond the 10th row
could not hear anything and noted that the performers
did not think about microphones.
This situation made it impossible to understand the lyrics and speeches:
We couldn't understand any of the lyrics, even when the performers were addressing us.
1.3 Impact on older and hearing-impaired audiences
Although no specific complaints from hearing-impaired people were identified in the sources, the documented acoustic problems constitute a major obstacle for elderly audiences or those with hearing impairments.
Hearing difficulties beyond the 10th row, the lack of adequate microphones, and the incomprehensibility of the lyrics make the show inaccessible to these vulnerable audiences.
Older people, who make up the majority of the audience for this type of religious performance, are the first to be penalized by these poor listening conditions, especially since reduced senior rates (€27.50 compared to €33 for full price) encourage them to attend.
Musical accompaniment deemed insufficient
The musical accompaniment has been severely criticized.
Some audience members describe it as simplistic
or even pitiful, detracting from the singing.
One review laments:
Enjoyable but not as brilliant as the poster suggested: a choir of only 12 singers, simplistic musical accompaniment, a limited repertoire
.
2. Amateurism of the troupe
The troupe sounds amateurish, deafening, bawling, a warm-up act is needed because you can't get into the show at all, a disaster
Short duration for the price
A spectator from Nice complains:
short show (1 hour) [...] a bit expensive for such a short show.
This perception of poor value for money fuels dissatisfaction.
Audience members consider the price disproportionate to the performance.
One review mentions a cost of €97 for four people
(approximately €24 per person), described as
exorbitant considering the performance.
Others feel that the performance is far too expensive at €25.
Lack of soul in the gospel music
A recurring complaint concerns the lack of soul in the gospel music:
The voices are powerful, but there is little nuance, and I was not moved by the overly clean performance of the soloists, which lacks the sensitivity and soul of gospel music.
Another review mentions gospel music that is too “commercial” and soulless.
Reviews from Ticketac
The atmosphere felt very business-like, as if they were just there to take your money. We couldn't hear anything... there was no sound system with microphones and no staging with lights and decorations, so for the price, it wasn't worth it. We left before the end. I don't recommend it.— Léonie, January 26, 2025

Very amateurish show, mediocre quality, a complete waste of time.— Gp24, February 25, 2024
We were at the back of the church, and the voices weren't loud enough. There weren't enough speakers, and maybe not enough singers to make the songs powerful. The voices were very beautiful, though.— Sandy, October 3, 2022
3. Pollution of the city of Paris by illegal postering
Gospel Dream et ses affiches illégales
byu/facterar inparis
Google Maps is where you'll find the majority of negative reviews about Gospel Dream's illegal practice of plastering the city with their posters:
-
I will never go to see this show and I don't encourage anyone else to do so because of Gospel Dream's massive illegal billposting on almost every street in Paris for years. It's a disgrace.
-
A company that engages in illegal billposting all over Paris. It's shameful.
-
If their talent were proportional to their ability to plaster the walls of Paris with their ads in an attempt to lure tourists, the Stade de France would have to be reserved for them every week...
